‘Big Brunch’ fundraiser for Mind

Cast your mind back to our ‘Tenth anniversary celebratory initiatives’ blog and you’ll remember our mental health focus this year (indeed, forever). As number one in our list of ten birthday activities for 2024, mental health is clearly a cause close to our hearts (and minds).

We recognise everyone has their own mental health challenges from time in time, in light of the curve balls life has a tendency to throw occasionally, whether it’s losing a loved one, suffering a relationship break up, getting stressed at work, experiencing poverty, whatever. And, let’s not forget, sometimes there’s no trigger. Mental health doesn’t only occur due to trauma. Genes and chemistry play a part too.

For this reason, we’re hosting a ‘Big Brunch for Mind’ event on Monday 8th April. At 11am, we’re switching our out-of-office notifications on and downing tools (our laptops). Over the course of ninety minutes, we’re gathering together virtually as a global team, enjoying some nice food (courtesy of our pre-arranged treat packs in the post), playing games, holding a raffle and sharing stories. Nicola Moore-Miller, our CEO, is also taking the opportunity to announce the itinerary for our birthday party (number two in the aforementioned list) in May.

At the same time as promoting positive mental health within our organisation, we’re raising money for the mental health charity, Mind. According to Mind, £10 pays the cost of one call to its Infoline where people can speak to a trained expert for information and support including advice about treatment options. When you consider one in four of us endure poor mental health, and most don’t get the help that’s needed for complete recovery, something has to change. Our ‘Big Brunch’ event and fundraising drive are allowing change to happen.

To get behind us, please donate cash at www.justgiving.com/page/jayvabigbrunch-080424. Every penny makes a difference to making life better for people affected by mental health problems.

Nicola Moore-Miller comments:

“We’re delighted to join the ‘Big Brunch’ national fundraising campaign, albeit slightly later, in April rather than March due to commitments to our work schedule. Over an hour and a half, we’re catching up, creating memories and putting a smile on our faces, all while generating money for this important cause. If you can participate by pledging cash, huge thank you from myself and everyone at Jayva on behalf of Mind.”
